1. Hyperlipidemia: In patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and combined hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia, PRAVASTATIN SODIUM is indicated as an adjunct to diet (low in fat, cholesterol, and calories) and other non-pharmacological therapies (such as exercise) to reduce elevated total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol when the response to these therapies is inadequate.

2. Primary Prevention: In patients with hypercholesterolemia without clinically evident coronary heart disease (CHD), to reduce the risk of initial myocardial infarction and CHD-related mortality.

3. Secondary Prevention: In patients with clinically evident coronary heart disease, to reduce the risk of recurrent myocardial infarction, CHD-related mortality, the need for myocardial revascularization procedures, and the risk of stroke or transient ischemic attacks (TIA).

4. Post-transplantation: To reduce post-transplantation hyperlipidemia secondary to immunosuppressive therapy following heart transplantation.
